Dianne Eppler Adams, one of this blog’s readers, as well as an astrologer and author, brought up a fantastic point yesterday in her comment….we come into this world with some preprogrammed aspects to us. If you doubt this, think of any 4-year-old child you’ve met and how they are already such a distinct person with their own personality and desires.
It’s imperative for you to understand your essence — what gifts, talents and traits you brought into this world. For these are the parts of you that will remain constant, even as you grow and change other aspects of yourself.
And the preferences you had as a young child are where to look if you get off track as an adult and no longer find joy and fulfillment in your life (see the post titled “Be Yourself…”). If you recall, as a child I loved helping others. So as an adult who lost my way, I got back on track by returning to that initial passion.
In this modern-day world where we are trying to be our best self and live our best life, this one fact is tantamount: you can’t change your essence, your soul, your divine connection, your internal GPS. It’s preprogrammed before birth. It’s what makes you YOU (at least the foundation of you, the rest you create).
So if you are a leopard, don’t waste your time thinking about what it would be like to wear stripes! Instead, focus on being the most amazing, unique leopard you can be…..
This is the essence of self-love — knowing who you are at your essence/core, and creating the rest of you in a way that brings you joy, fulfillment and peace.
Wear those spots like no one else can, because only YOU can be you — the unique, vibrant, amazing, singularly fantastic you that you are.
If you’ve ever tried to change your spots, please share your experience and what you learned from it.
