What do you know for sure? When I ask that I mean know with every fiber of your being, know at your deepest core, know for certain is true for you? Whatever it is, follow it and go with it…for that is your truth.
It may feel uncomfortable to think about living this way — following that deep-seated inner knowing and ignoring conventional wisdom. For we are taught to set goals with our mind, and then achieve them — but what I’m talking about is getting in touch with that full-body knowing that you can’t quite pin down as to HOW you know it, but you just do.
That is your internal GPS, your divine compass, your all-knowing guide, and it will never steer you wrong. It will always take you exactly where you’re meant to be, for the exact experience you’re meant to have. It is totally trustworthy.
So perhaps you are clear when you have this type of full-body knowing, but have trouble accessing your knowing when it’s not quite this strong and vivid. What then? This is a very typical experience when you’re learning to follow your knowing…so don’t dismay.
The next step is to fine-tune your senses (your internal senses that pick up on the signals of your knowing). The way to do this is to be more tuned into them, more aware and sensitive to the signals they give you.
Here’s an example: Let’s say you had a fleeting thought to call a particular friend yesterday, but never followed through on it. Then this morning the thought crossed your mind again, but you forgot about it and never called. Suddenly your phone rings and it’s that friend calling you. Was it coincidence? Probably not.
Most likely your inner knowing was signaling you to call your friend — there was a reason that you needed to connect now. And because you two are connected emotionally and energetically, most likely your friend’s inner knowing was providing the same signal — life was conspiring to get you two to connect.
In order to become aware of the more subtle levels of signals from your inner knowing, take a moment after an experience like this one and reflect on what those signals were and how you felt them. Recognize that they were in fact subtle nudges from your inner knowing, urging you to take action, but in a less intense way than when you have that full-body knowing.
The more you bring your awareness and attention to these signals, the better you’ll become at recognizing them when they occur and responding to them. And when you are able to pick up these subtle cues from your soul, you can follow its guidance all the time, not just when it bops you over the head with a big knowing.
I encourage you to practice developing your ability to hear and respond to your inner knowing, even when it’s about smaller, day-to-day things. For living from your divine inner guidance is the key to a peaceful, fulfilled life. As Jay Maisel said, “Leave the city of your comfort and visit the wilderness of your intuition.”
While at first it may feel like a wilderness, after you’ve spent some time exploring and living from your intuition it will become second nature, and you’ll be able to live from your knowing. You’ll be able to go with what you know.
