So many people bemoan the fact that abundance isn’t flowing to them. But what I’ve noticed is that many people are closed to receiving. If you are closed to receiving the abundance that the universe offers, you may have thoughts like these:
*Nothing good ever happens to me.
*He’ll never want to go out with me.
*The only luck I have is bad luck.
*I never win anything.
*I’m not even going to try — I’ll never get that job/promotion/etc.
*I’m just not good enough. I don’t deserve it.
*Oh no, I can’t accept this gift. Thank you for thinking of me though.
Whereas those people who are open to receive live life with their hearts open, their minds open, and their arms open. They are open to new ideas, new perspectives, new ways of thinking and seeing the world, new people, new activities, new emotions, etc.
People who are open to receive welcome the new and are excited to discover what’s next, who that new person is, and so on. If you are open to receive, you may have thoughts like these:
*I saw there is a new woman in finance — I want to go to lunch with her and get to know more about her.
*I heard a new song today — I wonder who sings it? Maybe I can get it for my iPod.
*Susie said there is a new company in our industry — I’d like to find out more about their culture and focus.
*I’ve never tried rock climbing before, maybe I’ll go learn on that new indoor wall at the YMCA this weekend.
*Jamie made me homemade cookies — wasn’t that the sweetest gesture!? I’ll have to let her know how much I enjoyed them.
When you are open to receive, you know how to graciously accept a compliment, how to lovingly receive gifts, how to pursue new ideas, and how to keep your mind open to hearing and learning new things. You are not stuck in the rut of routine; but rather, are excited about possibilities, new avenues to explore, and ways of being that you haven’t tried. Life is “a box of chocolates” for you!
If you recognize yourself as one who is not currently living in the “open to receive” mode, try shifting some of your thoughts and actions to a more open and welcoming frame of reference. You’ll be amazed at the difference this can make in how life shows up.
Try hanging out a metaphorical sign saying “Open to Receive”, and see what happens!
