Sometimes the only way to get perspective on this human experience is to laugh at yourself. And one of the best examples of this is when you have been growing, changing, expanding, and basically becoming more conscious, peaceful and downright blissful.
You might even start to think you ‘have it down’ — that perhaps you’ve figured out this thing called life. But just when you rush to this premature conclusion, life has a way of pointing out your humanness.
So here’s a challenge for you: when you find yourself in this state, do one of two things — go visit your family OR start a new relationship. Why? Because you’re almost assured of having the quick and penetrating realization that life is always a few steps ahead of you.
For whatever reason, families and relationships tend to bring up any unfinished business we might have — old lingering thoughts, beliefs, or ideas that we were sure we had cleared away during that last spring cleaning up in the attic of our minds.
And that’s when having perspective helps: for you can choose to get upset or you can just laugh at yourself and the amusing wit that life clearly is. And if you’ve learned nothing else from the experience, you have now discovered the quickest way to fall out of bliss.
